Maquette (meaning miniature sculpture in French) is a blend of three heavily extracted red wines. The grapes include a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon form the hillside landscape of Frankel vineyards, with Merlot and Petite Sirah from O'Neil Vineyards in the cool hillside terroir of eastern Paso Robles. The Cabernet was hand pruned and shoot thinned twice in the growing season limiting the vines to two clusters per shoot, giving a big concentrated flavor to the fruit. The Merlot and Petite Sirah has come from the O'Neil vineyards which have richly established soils, mostly loams and sandy loams, with some coarse loam with clay and chalky areas. The vineyard is located in the Huero Huero River area and have daily summer temperatures flucuations ideal for grape growing. The result of the combination of these three varietls into a meritage is a brilliant Bordeaux blend.
